While much of the world is shifting to the right, Mexico is moving in a progressive direction. In 2018, the electoral victory of Andrés Manuel López Obrador of the National Regeneration Movement (MORENA party) initiated "The Fourth Transformation" which is working, against entrenched opposition, to abolish corruption, reduce inequality and priviledged abuses as well as to restore national sovereignity. This year's election brought MORENA back to power with a landslide victory for Claudia Sheinbaum, Mexico's first woman president. Sheinbaum is continuing to advance MORENA's impressive social and economic programs.

José Alfredo Gutiérrez Falcón is the author of a recent book--4T-- that describes the very unique and humanistic manner of governing that characterized the presidency of Andrés Manuel López Obrador. He provides a an account of the social, political, and economic programs and projects established during his six-year term (2018-2024) that prioritize Mexico's historically excluded, marginalized, and forgotten populations.
