Born in San Miguel de Allende and raised in La Aurora, Rosana Alvarez Martinez is a co-founder of Vía Orgánica, a pioneering regenerative agriculture initiative rooted in the city she has always called home. Through her leadership, Vía Orgánica has grown into a thriving hub for organic food, environmental education, and grassroots activism, bringing together farmers, chefs, and citizens to reimagine a healthier, more connected future for Mexico.

From the concrete work of saving seeds on the farm here in San Miguel to the important national work of protecting corn from GMOs, Rosana's deep roots in this community have been key to giving this project life.

At the heart of Vía Regenerativa y Orgánica A.C. is its agroecological park, open to the public every day as a living classroom and space for learning. Visitors of all ages are invited to explore regenerative farming in practice — from seasonal orchards and soil restoration to water conservation techniques — gaining hands-on insight into what it means to grow food in harmony with the land.

Rosana's work is rooted in a deep commitment to growing food without pesticides, restoring soil health, and honoring the natural cycles of a region increasingly challenged by water scarcity and environmental pressure. In a landscape marked by drought, she has chosen to work with the earth rather than against it — an act of courage and a promise to future generations.

A trailblazer in sustainable agriculture and community empowerment, Rosana believes that reconnecting with the land restores something deeper within us. When we eat in season, protect our water, and nurture the soil, we don't just feed our bodies — we reclaim a more meaningful relationship with the world around us.

Her vision continues to inspire a growing movement across Mexico and beyond, proving that regenerative agriculture is not only possible, but essential.
