We celebrate Martin Luther King’s birthday by examining the thorny questions of race and identity. What is race? Who is Black? Who is White? Why be Black? Can we choose our race?

Cliff DuRand is a founder and Research Associate of the Center for Global Justice. A retired Philosophy professor, he taught at historically Black Morgan State University in Baltimore. He has lived in San Miguel for 18 years.
